Where I'll be at

Well, I've decided on a career path:
I'll be moving to Arlington, VA (probably near the Ballston metro stop). I've taken a job with General Dynamics as a Software Engineer. Yey!

I'll be posting more as I go along. Right now the plan is to depart the island on May 8, spend a few days with The Boy's folks in Arizona, then take the Amtrak up to my parents' house in NY. Then, on May 22nd I'll be starting work down in DC. Woot.

I'll be posting as we travel, along with pics, so stay tuned. Also, for any peeps out there in the DC area, be ready to party when I hit town.
The Squid and the Whale

Just watched The Squid and the Whale on DVD this weekend. What a great movie. It was certainly snubbed at the Oscars this year. Though I enjoyed Capote (which I also watched this week) and thought Phillip Seymour Hoffman was great, I enjoyed The Squid and the Whale much much more. It was a lovely, intimate little film and it felt really... true. I liked that a lot about it. Also, it has Laura Linney in it, who is one of my favorite actresses.

Jeff Daniels also stars and it freaked me out how much he looked like a blond version of my father. Crreeeeeeppyyyyy!
Movin' on up

I've been a bit lax in posting this week. This is mostly due to the fact that I'm frantically trying to finalize my new job, our move, etc. Yes folks, expect to see me in the Washington DC metro area very soon. VERY SOON. As in, "May 20th or even earlier". Yikes.

Anyhoo, there's lots to be done still - need to prep and ship my vehicle, get the house ready for the movers, finish my out-processing actions, and decide which job I'm taking. It's pandamonium here. I'm also trying to plan my cross-country road trip with The Boy.

Stay tuned for more info as things develop.

Sports Illustrated's latest mock draft results

Interesting stuff there. The great and mighty Vince Young slipping all the way to 10th? Shows just how the free season quarterback shuffle has really changed the picture.

I'm of two minds on Vince Young. One, I think he's massively talented and has the potential to be a Michael Vick type of player. Two, I think that his style requires a very specific type of system that allows him to use all the weapons at his disposal. If he turns out great, everyone is going to chastise all the teams that passed him up. If he turns out to be a goat, a lot of people will throw around the "Ryan Leaf" label and forget about him. We'll see. Even if he turns out like Vick, well.... the jury is out on whether or not being one of the best individual players in the game is the same as being able to lead a team to victory. Some suggest that Vick's style actually hurting the team - it's great for his individual numbers, but there's a reason that the leading receivers on the team are the running backs and the supernaturally talented tight end.
